Michael McFee was born in Asheville, N.C., on 4 June 1954. He received an A.B. (1976) and M.A. (1978) in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has taught at the University since 1984. McFee has published collections of poetry, served as assistant editor for poetry at magazine, and was coordinator of the Second Sunday Reading Series in Chapel Hill. The collection contains material related to McFee's writing, including drafts of poems and essays written between 1970 and 2002. Subjects of McFee's essays include writers A. R.
