John Coffee Order Books, . 1812-1815

John Coffee was a frontier merchant, Indian fighter, land agent, surveyor, and speculator of Tennessee and Alabama. The collection contains order-books, November 1812-April 1813 (87 pages) and September 1814-March 1815 (116 pages), reflecting Coffee's service as a brigadier general of the Tennessee militia on active service against the Indians and British in the old Southwest during the War of 1812.
