Leonidas Baugh Letters, . 1847-1859

Leonidas Baugh was editor of the Abingdon, Va., Democrat. The collection contains letters to Baugh from John Buchanan Floyd (1806-1863), lawyer, Virginia legislator, governor, and President Buchanan's secretary of war, discussing the Virginia legislature and controversy over a plan to extend a macadamized road in southwestern Virginia; and from Andrew Johnson, written while he was a United States representative from Tennessee, concerning politics.
