The New Utrecht YMCA was founded in 1869 as part of the Brooklyn Association, although it did not continue as part of the Brooklyn YMCA more than a few years and apparently ceased operations by 1900. In November of 1919, a reorganized branch opened at 1841 Eighty-fourth Street with a dormitory; a gymnasium was constructed in 1925.
