Bryce Low Crawford was born on November 27, 1914 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He earned his B.A. in 1934, his M.A. in 1935 and his Ph.D. in 1937, all from Stanford University. After completing his Ph.D., Professor Crawford was a National Research Fellow at Harvard University (1937-1939) and an instructor in chemistry at Yale University (1939-1940).
