Angela Bambace (1898-1975), an Italian American labor organizer, was born in Santos, Brazil, of Italian parents. The family lived briefly in Italy and came to the United States when Angela was six years old. She grew up in Harlem, New York, and began work in the garment industry when she was seventeen. Bambace was an advocate of women's rights.
