Kathleen Krull was born on July 29, 1952 in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. She graduated from Lawrence University and began a career in publishing. Krull said that she knew she always wanted to be a writer, so she worked in publishing to gain experience from other authors. Krull, a self-proclaimed "book addict", has written many award-winning children's books. Her books have won several ALA Notable book designations.
