Henry Carey, 1st Baron Hunsdon (4 March 1526 – 23 July 1596), was an English nobleman and courtier. He was the second child of William Carey and Mary Boleyn and a cousin of Queen Elizabeth I. Carey served twice as Member of Parliament; in 1559 he was created Baron by his first cousin Elizabeth I of England. Elizabeth appointed Carey Captain of the Gentlemen Pensioners in 1564, a position making him effectively her personal bodyguard for four years....
