Thomas Bartelemy Cardon was one of Cache Valley's leading businessmen, owning a hotel, a photo studio, and a jewelry store. He was Italian, and came to Utah with his parents, who were Waldensian converts. He joined the army at Camp Floyd and later fought in the Civil War on the Federal side. After the war he came to Logan to visit his parents, later joining the Mormon Church. He died in Logan in 1898 after having served many positions in Logan City government. Phillip (Philip) Nephi Margetts was born on February 10, 1829, in Warwickshire, England, where he worked as a mechanic and engine driver.
