Unedited footage, without titles, on Adm. Byrd's expedition. Reel 1, the Byrd party examines stone statues on Easter Island. The freighter Jacob Ruppert sails from the island. Equator initiations are conducted. The ship docks at Wellington, New Zealand. A Condor seaplane is unloaded. Shows Wellington street scenes. Reel 2, the Jacob Ruppert moves through heavy seas and ice floes. The Condor is set in the water, taxied, and flown. Shows aerial views. Reel 3, the Jacob Ruppert docks against barrier ice. Cows, tractors, and supply cases are unloaded. Tractors and dog sleds tow supplies across ice. Cows, tractors, and supply the Jacob Ruppert docks against barrier ice. Reel 4A, sleds are made. Supplies are loaded aboard the Condor. Snow is cleared from the plane and it takes off. Surveyors plot the terrain. Shows aerial views. Reel 5, dogs curl up as a blizzard flows over the campsite. Snow walls are erected around the Condor. Dogs are harnessed. Frozen seals are dragged across the ice. Pemmican is sliced and packed. Stew is cooked. A tailor sews furs. Cows eat hay. Reel 6, buckets are lowered from the Jacob Ruppert and marine life examined under microscopes. Dogs are harnessed. Dog sleds and skiers cross the ice. Seals play on ice and whales sound in the Bay of Whales. The Fokker plane is dug from the snow. The party poses.

Rear Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd Jr. (October 25, 1888 – March 11, 1957) was an American naval officer and explorer. He was a recipient of the Medal of Honor, the highest honor for valor given by the United States, and was a pioneering American aviator, polar explorer, and organizer of polar logistics.
