1)CU 0fficers and guests seated in stands, during ceremony. VG 2) HA MS MRS L. MENDEL RIVERS standing by keel; she steps up on the stand to authenticate the keel; the commemorative plaque bears Congressman RIVERS' quotation: "The American People Stand to Lose Everything if we Fail to Discharge our Awesome Responsibilities in Respect to our Nationa1 Defense"; MRS RIVERS hits the raised object with hammer, turns around, gives hammer to MR L.C. ACKERMAN; she then steps down from stand and VIP's in BG applaude; Congressman MENDEL RIVERS steps up on stand, strikes the other pin with hammer, gives the hammer to MR ACKERMAN; two objects reremoved from plaque by MR ACKERMAN; MRS RIVERS then stands back up on stand, looks over the plaque; Congressman RIVERS steps up along side his wife to look at plaque. VG 3) CU Looking down over stencil: "Hull 596, DLGN-37, So. Carolina"; the keel is being moved by one of the large rail cranes, to be laid on keel block; workers walk along the area next, to keel block. G 4) HA MS VIP's on speaker's stand watching keel being laid as ADMIRAL ELMO R. ZUMWALT, CN0, Honorable JOHN CHAFEE, VADM H.G. RICKOVER, Congressman RIVERS, Senator STR0M THURMOND look on; VIP's begin to look, at light in the FG on stand; the light begins to flash. VG 5) MS Officers and guests applauding and then being seated. VG 6) MS Keel hanging over keel blocks. G 7) MS Two young workers looking towards keel in BG. 8) CU Keel being moved to rear of speaker's stand. G 9) HA MCU Several yard workers holding onto keel as keel is set just aft of speaker's stand. G 10) MS Yard workers, some standing on top of keel. G 11) MCU Workers tightening up the chain falls on keel. 12) CU Worker removing a plastic cover from sign on side of keel (SV). VG 13) MS Two yard workers, in white hard hats, looking toward keel in FBG. 14) CU Chief band master directing Navy band. 15) CU Face of a band member. G 16) CU Congressman RIVERS giving his remarks from rostrum; zoom in for an ECU; zoom back for a CU continuing his remarks. VG
