David Goodwin Barr (1895-1970), born in Myrtlewood, Alabama, attended Alabama Presbyterian College. He graduated from Command and General Staff School in 1936 and the Army War College in 1939. After enlisting with the infantry reserve in 1917, he fought in France with the 18th Infantry, 1st Division, during World War I.
