David Wade biography (b. 1911, Minden, La.; d. May 11, 1990) reached the rank of lieutenant general and assumed command of SAC's Second Air Force, Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana on August 1, 1963. He later took command of the Eighth Air Force on August 1, 1966. He retired from Air Force service on March 1, 1967.
