On the formation of the 21st Bomber Command and its activities through its first combat mission. Consists largely of ground and aerial views of B-29's. Reel 1, troops arrive and set up a camp at Grand Island, Neb. The command flies from Nebraska to San Francisco, to Pearl Harbor, to Saipan. Shows Gens. Hansell and Harmon. Reel 2, crews rest and play. Japanese planes attack, damaging planes and buildings; some planes are downed. Crews are briefed and then man planes, fly to Tokyo, bomb Musashina factory (Nov. 24, 1944), and return to Saipan. Shows flak concentrations and enemy fighters over Tokyo. General Arnold promises more attacks.

Haywood Hansell joined the Army in 1928 to learn how to fly. He quickly became a stunt pilot and barnstormed with the Air Corps Aerobatic team called "The Men on the Flying Trapeze." Millard Fillmore Harmon (b. Jan. 19, 1889, San Francisco, Calif.-d. Feb. 26, 1945), U.S. Army officer, graduated from West Point in 1912 and earned his wings in 1916.
