Marie Corinne Morrison "Lindy" Claiborne Boggs (March 13, 1916 – July 27, 2013) was a United States politician who served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and later as United States Ambassador to the Holy See. She was the first woman elected to Congress from Louisiana. She was also a permanent chairwoman of the 1976 Democratic National Convention, which met in New York City to nominate the Carter-Mondale ticket. Nick (Nicholas Joseph) Begich (1932-1972) was born and raised in Minnesota. In the mid 1950s he moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where he worked in education and education administration. He was elected to two terms in the Alaska State Senate (1963-1971). In 1970 he won election as a Democrat to the U.S. House of Representatives and began his service as Alaska's congressman on January 3rd 1971. He disappeared while on a campaign flight from Anchorage to Juneau, Alaska, October 16th 1972. ...
