Charles F. Brannan Papers. 1933 - 1991. General Files

The General Files contain correspondence, newspaper clippings, speeches and speech drafts, and other materials pertaining for the most part to Charles F. Brannan's relationship with Mr. Harry S. Truman. In addition to correspondence between the former Agriculture Secretary and the former President, the series includes other correspondence and printed material relating to Truman, as well as information about Brannan's involvement with the Harry S. Truman Library, Inc. (the organization that raised funds to build the Truman Library from 1953 to 1957) and, subsequently, with the Truman Library Institute. The General Files also contain material concerning the 1952 campaign and correspondence between Brannan and such prominent Democrats as Adlai E. Stevenson, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Hubert H. Humphrey.
