This series documents the naval career of John D. Bulkeley, particularly during World War II, when he was a PT boat commander. The series includes material on motor torpedo boats; the evacuation of General Douglas MacArthur and President Manuel Quezon from the Philippines by Bulkeley; PT boat operations during the Normandy invasion; Operation Dragon (Anvil); the book "They Were Expendable" by William Allen White and movie by the same title, which dramatized the exploits of Bulkeley's PT boat squadron; and the 40th anniversary of D-Day. This series contains correspondence, memorandums, news clippings, reports, school transcripts, action reports, orders, and awards.
