This series contains fragmentary correspondence files of personal, business and extended family correspondence of Joseph P. Kennedy that describe events such as business deals, stock purchases, and initial acquaintances with individuals who appear throughout the later correspondence series. Correspondants include Lord Beaverbrook, Georges Benda, John Borden, Boston Latin School, Sherman Bowles, Tom Bragg, George W. Connelly (a yacht broker), Crosby Yacht Building, Christopher J. Dunphy, Harvard University, William Randolph Hearst, Patrick J. Kennedy, Sidney Kent, Andrew Peters (Mayor of Boston), Henry Taylor, Richard Teeling, Chester Wardwell of Patterson, Wylde & Windeler Insurance, Cora Weston, and Henry Young of the Globe Theater. The correspondence also contains estate information, including deeds, wills, condolence mail and hospital and funeral expenses, of Patrick Joseph Kennedy, Joseph P. Kennedy's father. This series also documents early donations to different types of charities, including the Catholic Church, children hospitals and schools, and Harvard University.
