This series consists of black and white photographs collected by or given to Admiral Robert E. Peary by his associates, colleagues, acquaintances, admirers, and other individuals. Most are studio portraits; many of which are autographed cabinet cards. Various other subjects are also included. Among the miscellaneous views are photographs labeled "Great Lake canal construction" (XP-XPQ-4-1 through 4-11) and one of a single-wheel odometer vehicle (XP-XPQ-6-1). The image of the odometer has handwritten annotations on its mount and shows the United States Capitol in the background. A view of Bowdoin College, looking towards Memorial Gateway from King Chapel, Brunswick, Maine is included (XP-XPQ-4-12). Also, two views from the Cliff House Studio in San Francisco, California show the "Cliff House" and seal rookeries (XP-XPQ-4-14) and (XP-XPQ-4-15). Individuals pictured include Morris K. Jesup, Past President of American Museum of Natural History, New York, New York (XP-XPQ-8-9 through 8-10) and A. G. Menocal, Civil Engineer, United States Navy (XP-XPQ-11-4). In addition, there are three views of Peary with Captain Roald Amundsen, Norwegian Polar explorer, who discovered the South Pole, and Lieutenant Sir Ernest Shackleton, British Antarctic explorer (XP-XPQ-9-24 through 9-26).

Robert Edwin Peary Sr. (born May 6, 1856, Cresson, Pennsylvania – died February 20, 1920, Washington, D.C.) was an American explorer and United States Navy officer who made several expeditions to the Arctic in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
