Reel 1, 5th Marines board the transport Hancock at Philadelphia; debark at St. Nazaire, Fr.; and march to their billets at Gondrecourt. Gen. Pershing and Fr. officers inspect the unit. The Marines entrain for the front, eat a meal in the Vosge Mountains, and operate a field telephone. The 1st Field Signal Bn. is inspected at Espagne. Reel 2, 2nd Div. troops throw grenades into enemy trenches at Baubiers. 6th Marines wash and hold Memorial Day services at Serans. 17th F.A. guns fire near Montreuil. Wounded arrive at Chateau Thierry. Supply trains move up. POW's are herded to the rear. 5th and 6th Marines leave the lines at Montreuil for a rest. The 1st Field Signal Bn. helps refugees leave the danger zone. Captured equipment is unloaded at a salvage dump. 12th F.A. guns fire. Gens. Pershing, McAndrew and Harbord inspect and decorate the 5th and 6th Marines at Chateau-le-Trousse. Reel 3, the Marines pass in review. 9th Inf. troops arrive at the front; wounded receive aid; ammunition trains move up. 2nd Engrs. build a road. 23rd Inf. troops march into Mersch and 2nd Div. troops into La Rocrette, Luxemburg. Pershing decorates 2nd Div. troops at Vallendar, Ger. Gen. Lejeune leads the 2nd in a New York Parade. 5th and 6th Marines parade in Washington, D.C.

John Archer Lejeune (/ləˈʒɜːrn/; January 10, 1867 – November 20, 1942) was a United States Marine Corps lieutenant general and the 13th Commandant of the Marine Corps. Lejeune had nearly 40 years service in the Marine Corps including commanding the U.S. Army's 2nd Division during World War I.
