This series consists of ship plans and drawings for several of the ships that Admiral Robert Peary took to the Arctic, including the Niakornat, the S.S. Roosevelt (famous for transporting Admiral Robert Peary on his North Pole expedition in 1909), Discovery, and the S.S. Windward. This series also consists of architectural drawings and engineering drawings for various naval facilities, including the Navy Yard at Washington; Naval facilities in Florida; the U.S. Navy Yard in New York; Naval Barracks in Kiel, Germany; the Key West Pier; and the Hoosac Tunnel. Also included are surveys, plans, profiles, and drawings for the Nicaragua Ship Canal. Also included are survey notes and sketches for Fryeburg, Maine from Admiral Robert Peary's work as the town's surveyor. Also included are cross section views for League Island Navy Yard and its dry dock and navy yard. Also included is a Braille map of Arctic regions with Admiral Robert Peary's route outlined. Also included is a black wooden slide case belonging to Admiral Robert Peary.

The S. S. Roosevelt was built at the McKay and Dix Boatyard in Bucksport, Maine; her keel was laid on Oct. 15, 1904 and she was launched on Mar. 23, 1905. The S.S. Roosevelt was a specially constructed steamship, built to Admiral Robert E. Peary's specifications for Arctic exploration. The ship was 1,614 tons, 182 feet long, 3512 feet wide, with 30-inch thick sides. It was constructed of wood rather than steel, making it less vulnerable to jagged ice.
