Peter Geoffrey Bourne was born on August 6, 1939 in Oxford, England. He received an M.D. from Emory University in 1962 and an M.A. from Stanford University in 1969. He was a practicing physician and psychiatrist, as well as a professor of psychiatry at Emory University.
