Lyman Louis Lemnitzer (August 29, 1899 – November 12, 1988) was born in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. He received his commission in the Coast Artillery Corps from West Point in 1920 and was an instructor at West Point from 1926 to 1930, and again in 1934 and 1935. He graduated from the Command and General Staff School in 1936 and the Army War College in 1940 and saw duty with war plans division and the staff of Army Ground Forces from May 1941 to June 1942. James E. Moore was a United States (U.S.) Army officer. He graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA), West Point in the Class of 1924. During WWII, he was Chief of Staff (CofS) of the Ninth (9th) Army, ETO. After the war, he was the Army Commander, Okinawa, and High Commissioner of the Ryukyu Islands.
