William Kelly Harrison (1895-1987) was born in Washington, D.C. He received his commission in the cavalry from West Point in 1917. He advanced to the rank of brigadier general in June 1942 and served as Assistant Division Commander of the 78th Infantry Division, then 30th Division from 1942 to 1945.
