Mountbatten at press conference says that he is grateful to Carney for their pleasant liaison and relations. Ridgway introduces Carney who states simply that cooperation with Mountbatten will be even better when the command structure is clearly established. Ridgway discusses the command of SACEUR. The dignitaries exit. (Silent) View past seated newsmen as civilian photographers work. Mountbatten, carney arrive by auto, chat; Ridgway poses with both men. Footage of the three men seated at press conference. Ridgway chats with Averell Harriman; greets Carney, Mountbatten others in cloakroom; they chat (camera scratch). Ridgway and others enter, leave conference room. Tilt-up as Ridgway poses with Carney and Mountbatten to Eiffel Tower in background. Shots as the men are seated at the conference.
