The Gen arrives by plane at the Melsbroeck Airport, greeted by three Belgium Chs of Staff, Lt Gen Piron, Army; Lt Gen Leboutte, AF, and Capt DeViasseau Robins, Navy. Foreign Minister Van Zeeland greets Ridgway. Ridgway placing a wreath on the Tomb of Unknown Soldier, Brussels. Ridgway in the Prime Minister's office. Ridgway in the office of the Defense Ministry, Eugene DeGreef. the third person present is the Minister's son, Lt DeGreef. Gen Ridgway in another office with Gen Dixmude, Defense Minister DeGreef and an unidentified general. Officials greet Gen Ridgway's party arriving in cars at the Luxembourg border. Ridgway presents the officials to his wife. Gen talks with officials as his wife and others stnd by. A wreath is placed at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Luxembourg City. Ridgway shakes hands with the Com of Honor Guard, talks to officials. The Gen with the Minister of State, Pierre Dupong. The Gen holds a book which was presented to him by the Duchess of Luxembourg. The Gen reviews the Honor Guard.

General Matthew Bunker Ridgway (March 3, 1895 – July 26, 1993) was a senior officer in the United States Army, who served as Supreme Allied Commander Europe (1952–1953) and the 19th Chief of Staff of the United States Army (1953–1955). He fought with distinction during World War II, where he was the Commanding General of the 82nd Airborne Division, leading it in action in Sicily, Italy and Normandy, before taking command of the newly formed XVIII Airborne Corps in August 1944.
