Aboard the "Vanguard", men take flags out of locker, run them up. Man semaphore signaling. LAS of the yardarm as flags are hoisted up. Seamen hoisting up the flags. A seaman pulls up message from tube on bridge. Int of the 15 inch gun turret with man handling controls and the gun going up, breechblock is closed. On deck Royal Marines practice with light Bren gun. CU of a man aiming it, simulating firing. CU as other men watch. American Hup retriever hovering over and lowering a man to the quarterdeck. Men play deck hockey. LS, carrier "Eagle", several other ships. ELS, a plane lands on a deck. Scenes aboard the vessel as it nears the coast of Norway. Small guns are fired in salute. Sailors are assembled on the quarterdeck. Band plays. Marines at Present Arms. The King of Norway, Gen Ridgway, Adm Brind, and others, come aboard the "Eagle".

General Matthew Bunker Ridgway (March 3, 1895 – July 26, 1993) was a senior officer in the United States Army, who served as Supreme Allied Commander Europe (1952–1953) and the 19th Chief of Staff of the United States Army (1953–1955). He fought with distinction during World War II, where he was the Commanding General of the 82nd Airborne Division, leading it in action in Sicily, Italy and Normandy, before taking command of the newly formed XVIII Airborne Corps in August 1944.
