1965-1968

Press releases and drafts, reading copies and final copies of speeches. The box listing for this series lists the date, occasion, location, subject and length for most of the speeches and press releases. The first number in the "Pages" column is the length of the final copy; the number in parentheses in the length of the reading copy. We have reading copies for approximately of the speeches. In most cases Senator Kennedy gave his speeches from the reading copy, but he ad - libbed extensively, so the speeches can not be considered to be verbatim. The subject file is not complete, so researchers working on a specific subject should also consult the box listing for the chronological file and reading copies. Researchers may also want to look in Robert Kennedy's 1968 Campaign Papers, Media Division, box 3 for exact transcripts of several 1968 speeches, and boxes 17 and 18 of the Press Division for transcripts of interviews of Robert Kennedy from 1963 to 1968.
