NEWS PROGRAM: Army Band performs theme "Under and Out," as well as musical breaks. Army Chorus performs "This is the Army Hour!" (1) Military Academy Band perform "Garry Owen." (2) Ft. Meade, Md., first public demonstration of the use of color television in a tactical situation; field problem demonstrating potential uses of television for combat. Ben Grauer of the National Broadcasting Company is the Commentator. Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Matthew B. Ridgway summarizes the experiment. (3) Fort Dix Chorus performs "I Dream of You." (4) Germany, "Operation Friendly Hand", on the scene of how, for the second year, North American servicemen have taken German children into their homes for a vacation. (5) COMMAND PERFORMANCE. Hollywood, Calif., Master of Cremonies, William Powell. Brenda and Cobina (Blanche Stewart and Elvia Allman). Gene Autrey and Company performs "Jingle, Jangle, Jingle."

General Matthew Bunker Ridgway (March 3, 1895 – July 26, 1993) was a senior officer in the United States Army, who served as Supreme Allied Commander Europe (1952–1953) and the 19th Chief of Staff of the United States Army (1953–1955). He fought with distinction during World War II, where he was the Commanding General of the 82nd Airborne Division, leading it in action in Sicily, Italy and Normandy, before taking command of the newly formed XVIII Airborne Corps in August 1944.
