Otto C. McCreary, noted ornithologist and research chemist, was born in Bedford, Pennsylvania, in 1879 to Jacob and Louisa Otto McCreary. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan and a doctoral degree from Ohio State University. Before joining the University of Wyoming in 1926, McCreary worked as a research assistant at experimental stations in Ithaca, New York, and Pullman, Washington.
