Guthrie, originally from Ohio, was in the sheep business in Wyoming for about thirty years. He came to Wyoming around 1880 and along with his brother, W.E. Guthrie, engaged in cattle and sheep business. In about 1899 Guthrie settled in Moorcroft, Wyoming, and raised sheep until his death in 1923.
