Starr Jenkins, author, was born in Chicago in 1925. After serving during World War II he worked for the U.S. Forest Service and National Park Service. Received his Ph. D from University of New Mexico in 1972. In 1988 retired from the position of English professor from California Polytechnic State. Beatrice Starr Jenkins, Starr Jenkins's mother, received an M.A. in History from the University of New Mexico in 1948; her master's thesis was on José María Morelos.
