Consumers League of Ohio Oral History Interviews 1982

The collection consists of interviews conducted by Case Western Reserve University graduate students in a program administered by the university's Department of History. Six members of the ConsumerLeague's board were interviewed regarding their activities with the League and the Elizabeth S. Magee Foundation, including Eleanor Farnham, Jean Pilcher, Edwin R. Teple, Dorothy Thomas, Marie R. Wing, and Dallas Young. The collection includes transcripts of oral history interviews with six Consumers League of Ohio board members focusing on their personal backgrounds and their involvement with the League.

The Consumers League of Ohio was founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1900 by a small group of women active in a local literary society, the Book and Thimble Club. The League affiliated with the National Consumers League which had been founded in 1899 by Florence Kelley.
