James Beeby invented a system of shorthand in the late-18th or early 19th century. The system was adopted by some users, including Anne Isabella Byron, Lord Byron's wife, but later systems superseded Beeby's by the mid-19th century. Queen Victoria was the only child of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn and Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld.
