Samuel Gardner Drake, antiquarian and author. Drake was born to Simeon and Love Muchmore (Tucke) Drake in Pittsfield, New Hampshire, on October 11, 1798. After teaching for several years in New Hampshire and New Jersey, Drake established a book auction business in 1828.
