Born June 5, 1898 in Detroit, Philip Jay graduated from Detroit Central High School in 1918. After attending Detroit Junior College for one year (1918-19), he enrolled in the U-M School of Dentistry, receiving his D.D.S. degree in 1923. He then attended the U-M School of Graduate Studies, earning his Master of Science degree in 1924. From 1925 to 1929, Jay served as an associate in bacteriology at the University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry. In 1929, he...
