Wilbur E. Hammaker was born February 17, 1876 in Springfield, Ohio. He pastored different churches in Ohio then in 1936 he was elected a bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He then served in Nanking, China (1936-1939), in the Denver area (1939), and other assignments 1940 to 1948 when he retired.
