Alonzo Ames Miner (1814-1895) had little formal education, but was ordained to the Universalist ministry in 1839. Rev. Miner served in Methuen, Massachusetts, and the School Street Church of Boston. He dedicated his life to education, serving at various times on the Board of Trustees of Tufts College, the Board of Overseers of Harvard College, and the Massachusetts State Board of Education.
