Henry Hallowell Farquhar received his MBA from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration in 1916. Prior to his arrival in Boston he was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture from 1909-1914. He was hired as Instructor in Factory Management in 1916 and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 1920. In 1925 he became the comptroller for A.L. Smith Iron Works in Chelsea, Massachusetts.
