Simon Oppenheimer, a Spokane businessman, established and bonded the property of the old Spokane Mill Company and traveled to The Netherlands, where he sold the bonds to the Amsterdamsch Trustee’s Kantoor for $300,000. He returned to Spokane with the grand plan to rejuvenate the industries of the city, which were still in the doldrums after the Panic of 1893.
