University of Utah Native American Studies Program Records, 1963-1980 1973-1977

The University of Utah established an ethnic studies program in 1973 on an interdisciplinary/interdepartmental basis with separate programs for Black, Chicano, and Native American Studies. Native American Studies focused on faculty recruitment, establishing relationships with communities and tribes, meeting the educational needs of Native Americans, and providing for Native American content in the curriculum. This collection contains course proposals and evaluations, reports, meeting minutes, correspondence, and questionnaires which related to the development and administration of the Native American Studies program.
