Cort Conley was born in Berkeley, California, in 1944. He earned a bachelor's degree and law degree from the University of California before moving to Idaho in 1972. He has worked as a river guide as well as a writer. Most of his books have been issued under his own imprint, Backeddy Books. He has homes in Boise and Cambridge, Idaho.
