Research files, including correspondence, interviews, clippings, and other material, relating to Vanek's compilation of articles on Bull River Valley history and her book on Noxon, Mont., entitled Behind These Mountains (1986); materials concerning the history and activities of U.S. Forest Service and Asarco Inc. (formerly American Smelting and Refining Company) mining operations, in the same area; and correspondence with various publishers and fund-raising agencies.

She has served at various times as clerk to the public school system, a technical writer, and a newspaper correspondent.
