Including minutes of the Oregon Medical College Stockholders, Board of Directors, enrollment records and alumni lists. In addition, material in volume I documents the creation of the Oregon Medical College and the transfer of the Medical Department from Salem to Portland in 1878. Volume II contains formal resignations as well as documentation of faculty grievances. Covers the period between 1878 and 1899.

Matthew Paul Deady, son of Daniel and Mary Ann (McSweeny) Deady, was born near Easton in Talbot County, Maryland on May 12, 1824. The Deady family worked a farm first in Maryland and, after 1828, in Wheeling, Virginia. Deady received his early education from his father and later at Wheeling's Lancasterian Academy.
