Myra Snow entered Methodist missionary work in the late 1920s and began teaching in Tientsin, in northern China, in the fall of 1928. A native of Los Angeles, Snow taught at Keen School (associated with Gamewell School), an all girls' institution, throughout the 1930s. Along with other American (and British) missionaries, Snow was interned by the Japanese in 1941 as a prisoner of war. American Myra Anna Jaquet (1884-1971) was a Methodist missionary in northern China from 1911 to 1942. She worked as an instructor of girls at a missionary school in Peking (Beijing) and in Tientsin (Tianjin) at the Gamewell School. In December 1941, she was interned by the Japanese as a prisoner of war. She was repatriated to the United States in 1943 and lived in New York until her return to Tianjin in 1946.
