The Department of Materials Science and Engineering was created in 1974 and is located in the College of Engineering. Materials science deals with the scientific and engineering aspects of ceramics, metals, and plastics. During the period covered by these records, Abraham Sosin and Richard Boyd served as department heads. This collection contains correspondence, class schedules, degree requirements, grant proposals, and reports. Also included are microfiche copies of research proposals, curricula, publications, and Utah Technical Reports (1956-1976) dealing with materials science.
