The Whitworth College Auxiliary was first organized as the Women’s Board of Whitworth College by a resolution of the Whitworth College Board of Trustees passed on September 23, 1915. The charter was signed by President Donald D. McKay and Secretary R. E. Porterfield. The auxiliary’s principal work over the years has been to provide furnishings in the dormitories and public spaces on the campus, especially replacing pieces worn out due to heavy use. Whitworth College was founded officially on February 19, 1890. During the years 1987 and 1988 plans were made to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Of course, this celebration, all during the 1989 year, was an opportune time for a fund drive. (Timothy R. Eaton, B .A. ’74) was commissioned to produce a motion picture film, “Whitworth College” for promotion of the financial campaign.
