John Yeon papers 1979-1980

Collection includes: Statement, 1980, regarding the proposed Cadillac Fairview project in Portland; Letter to Oregon Governor Atiyeh, 1979, regarding protection of the Columbia Gorge; Reports and letters, 1979, regarding the Bonneville Dam. John Yeon (1910-1994) worked for the firm of A.E. Doyle & Associates and is credited, along with Pietro Belluschi, with the development of the Northwest Regional Style of architecture. He designed the Wentz Studio in Neahkahnie, Oregon. His other notable buildings include the Watzek House in Southwest Portland (1937), Shaw House, and Swan House. Yeon was a dedicated conservationist who donated land to the state parks system. His work was honored in an exhibit by the Portland Art Museum in 1977.
