The office of Vice President for Medical Affairs was created in 1969 and supervised the College of Medicine, the College of Nursing, the College of Pharmacy, the Medical Library, and the University Hospital. The name was changed to the present Vice President for Health Sciences in 1973. During the period covered by these records, Kenneth B. Castleton served as Vice President for Medical Affairs and John A. Dixon served as Vice President for Health Sciences. The collection contains correspondence, reports, budgets, meeting minutes, clippings, press releases, and photoprints dealing primarily with the administration of Kenneth B. Castleton as Dean of the College of Medicine (1962-1969) and later as Vice President for Medical Affairs (1969-1971). A portion of the materials relate to the administration of John A. Dixon as Vice President for Health Sciences which began in 1973.
