Charles Mason MacDougall earned an Ed.D degree from Oregon State College in 1958, with a major in Education and minors in Industrial Arts (Industrial Education) and Fine Arts. His dissertation was titled Methods and Materials for Teaching Photography in the Secondary Schools. Rice was enrolled at OSC for the summer terms of 1926, 1943, and 1955; spring term of 1945; the full academic year of 1946-1947; and the spring term of 1954.
